Nuneaton Patios
A good summer deserves a decent outdoor space
Good weather never lasts. That’s the truth. When the sun does come out in Warwickshire, you want somewhere worth sitting, not a crumbling slab and a strip of patchy grass that gets waterlogged every October.
We’ve been laying patios across Nuneaton and the surrounding area long enough to know what works here. A lot of the housing stock in this part of the world, your sandstone cottages, your 1990s Barratt-style estates, your older red brick terraces, they all come with gardens that were never really finished properly. That’s where we come in.
What we work with
We’re comfortable across a range of materials and can advise you on what suits your garden, your soil, and your budget.
- Porcelain paving (low maintenance, holds its colour well)
- Indian sandstone, including kandla grey sandstone calibrated 22mm
- Limestone slabs
- Concrete flagstones
- Artificial grass and turfed lawns
- Timber fencing and new garden walling
How a typical installation week runs
Most full patio jobs follow the same basic sequence. It’s not glamorous work, but done right it lasts decades.
- 1. Excavation, dig out to the right depth for your sub-base
- 2. Sub-base, compacted MOT Type 1 hardcore laid and levelled
- 3. Bedding, sharp sand and cement mix, or a full mortar bed depending on the material
- 4. Laying, slabs positioned, checked for level and fall toward drainage
- 5. Jointing, kiln-dried sand or brush-in mortar worked into the joints
- 6. Cleaning, slabs washed down and the finished surface inspected
The drainage fall (even a small gradient makes a big difference in a wet Midlands winter) is the thing most people never notice until it goes wrong.
