Ballyfermot Guttering

Ballyfermot Guttering

Dublin rain doesn’t wait.

It lands hard, it runs fast, and if your gutters aren’t doing their job, you’ll know about it by morning. I’ve been sorting out rainwater drainage on Dublin rooflines long enough to know what the weather here actually does to a system that was fitted badly or left too long.

We work across Dublin, and a good chunk of what we deal with is the older housing stock. Red brick terraces and pebble-dash semis from the fifties and sixties, mostly. The original guttering on those houses has usually had a long life, but eventually the brackets give out, the fall goes wrong, and water starts sitting where it shouldn’t.

What we do

  • New gutter installation and full replacements in uPVC, aluminium, and cast iron
  • Half-round, ogee, and square-line profiles fitted to match what’s already on the house
  • Downpipe repair and replacement, hopper heads, and rainwater outlets
  • Soffit and fascia replacement in uPVC
  • Leaf guards and gutter mesh
  • Connection to soakaways and gullies
  • Rainwater diverters and water butt fitting

One job that comes up more than people expect is sorting a parapet wall lead flashing junction where the gutter meets the wall. Get that wrong and the water finds its way in no matter how good the rest of the job is.

A typical installation day

1. Inspect the existing roofline and check soffit and fascia condition
2. Strip out the old system and dispose of it
3. Replace soffit and fascia boards where needed
4. Set out new bracket positions with correct fall toward the outlet
5. Fit the new gutter runs and seal all joints
6. Fit downpipes and connect to drainage at ground level
7. Final check with water to confirm flow and no pooling

(The fall calculation is the bit most people don’t think about, but it matters more than the guttering itself.)

It’s not glamorous work. But a dry wall is a dry wall.
