Old stone versus modern porcelain

A lot of customers come to us wanting to replace tired, uneven York-stone-style flagstones. That’s a perfectly good call. However, modern vitrified porcelain is a different beast altogether. It’s frost-resistant, takes almost no maintenance, and the finish options have come a long way. Traditional sandstone has its charm (and we genuinely love laying it), but porcelain sits flatter and stays cleaner through a Warwickshire winter.

Grip and safety

We specify flame-textured granite anti-slip finish on any sloped or exposed run where standing water is a concern. It’s not glamorous, but neither is someone going over on a wet October morning.
